Rojava, Afrin & World Revolution. (2018)

Rojava, Afrin & World Revolution. (2018) 1182p.

These volumes traces the Afrin campaign of the Syrian Democratic Front (YPG/YPJ/Rojava) against Turkish forces and their local Jihadist allies, and its political ramifications in the worldwide Rojava Movement. Although the Rojava Movement seeks to create a Kurdish ethnostate in northern Syria, it has been marketed as a post-national eco-anarcho-Proletarian feminist (Gineology) movement, and as such it has found wide support among anarchists and Maoists in the United States and Europe. The photogenic YPJ, the Womens Protective Units, have transfixed the attention of feminists (and Proletarian Feminists) throughout the West. The Afrin campaign, which was seen by all state parties as driving the Syrian-Kurds back into Syria, was seen by the Rojava Movement as a deep betrayal: This development energized the Rojava Movement, especially in Oregon in the United States, among both anarchists and Maoists. Includes documentation on the role of returning Rojava international brigades veterans and Turkish Maoists in the American anarchist and Maoist movements. Two volumes. An annotated bibliography including analytical essay, abstracts and documents. (Al-Qaeda & Jihadi Movements Worldwide (AQJM) is a subset of Middle East Abstracts & Index (MAI). MAI Vol. 42E3-4; AQJM Vol. 108-109.)
