Our Books in Databases

The entire content of Middle East Abstracts & Index is available in electronic form in the Areastudies.com databases, under a licensing agreement with Reference Corporation, the publisher of the Middle East Abstracts & Index in book form.

Middle East & Africa database (MIDA) covers the Middle East & Africa region and is the electronic version of most of the Middle East Abstracts & Index (MAI) and much more. There is about 20 times as much text in MIDA than in MAI, and much more of the content is fulltext.

Other Middle East Abstracts & Index records appear in the Eurasia Atlantic database (EURA)  the Asia-Pacific Database (ASIA), and the forthcoming American Studies Database (AMST)..

All Middle East Abstracts & Index records appear in one of more of the Areastudies.com databases. For example:

  • Middle East Abstract & Index annual parts A-B (Middle East), D (North Africa) form part of MIDA
  • Middle East Abstract & Index annual parts C (Central Asia), F (Islamic Europe) form part of EURA
  • Middle East Abstract & Index annual part E (special topics, including Al-Qaeda & Jihadi Movements Worldwide) can be in any databases, but generally are in MIDA and/or EURA; the topic of each is a good indicator where that data might land: the three Rohingya volumes are obviously mainly in ASIA
  • Middle East Abstract & Index annual parts G (Islamic Southeast Asia) form part of ASIA
